Default Wireless Remote For EP-1

Does anyone know if there is a wireless remote for the EP-1? I am looking for a remote wireless shutter basically. I think Olympus ones do not work with the EP-1 and they do not seem to have one for it yet.

Well, the one I bought on eBay didn't work remotely, only with a cable *argh*

Anyway, went to Alan Photo, salesman didn't know so he took out some wireless stuff for us to try. Voila ! Found one that worked. Jue Ying wireless remote control, E2 model, $65. It does not work on C-AF, but no problem in S-AF.

The E-P1 does not have a sensor, so the tiny receiver (about the size of the E-P1 battery, but 2 times thicker, lightweight) has to be connected to the E-P1's USB port with a short cable. This receiver can be mounted on the flash shoe if one wants to.

Transmitter is about the size of 3 cigarettes put together, for want of a better description . Half-press to lock focus, full press to trigger.

These remote has common functions of half-press/full-press button. I'm using Phottix Plato that uses AAA batteries, last time bought from the Mass Sales, can try your luck searching, if they have stock.

Earlier model is Phottix Cleon 2 which uses 23A and CR2 battery, the cable is detachable, same as Plato, you can change the optional cable for other camera. (Except it don't have the optional cable for E1/E3 )

Thanks for the info. But the question is are you using with E-P1 ? This is important. Because I have another 2 brands and both won't work remotely, only with the cable. They work fine on E1/E3, proven already. I guess the sellers assumed it will work also for E-P1, which is a new product model.

Looks nice too :

Yes, it works on E-P1.

I think the plastic at the usb connector is bit thick and the E-P1 usb port is a bit recess, so need some forced to plug it in , can't remember now, the E-P1 I used was the loan set for the photo walk during the CS exhibition @SAM

What is the other 2 brands that doesn't work. we shall take note of that.

Thanks for posting the photos. But I think I prefer to get the more reputable brand, although, the fact that the USB does not fit that well is of concern.

No problem ... anyway, here is something related from the web, they are all probably from the same factory ...

"This unit is sold under a number of different brands, including Jianisi, Jue Ying and Phottix. "
