Default Fire at Bukit Batok

There has been a sharp increase in the number of flash fires in Singapore lately. This is just one of them. The weather has been getting increasingly warmer because of the light haze caused by dust particles in the air. The fire started at 3PM today and is still being fought right now at 1230AM.

Photo by my mum. (I was not available at my home which had this brilliant view)

An update - the fire has been put out, and a gang of firemen is combing the area to look for any remaining flames that might spark off a relapse of the incident. Notice the lit up area, and observe how the firemen actually have to scale the hill to get to the fire.

Got back home from work yesterday evening and seen this from my place...like a mini Australia bush fire (Singapore version ). At several time, though fire was well contained but then it erupted into huge fire balls (like in the pics)...lasted for 1.5hrs for it to contained it last night.

It should be the BBatok nature park next to the Greenwood Park.

I was there also. Quite near my house.

I did a short writeup on my blog. Check it out.

Not in a great position to get great photos but whipped out my camera when I started to smell the smoke coming through my aircon. The smoke probably blanketed a 1km or so radius, it was quite thick and the air rather acrid. (17 Feb).

It's not everyday we get to witness this sort of thing in Singapore. We really are quite fortunate to be untouched by almost all commonplace natural disasters...

The day after. Firefighters still hosing down the place. Hmm. Note the singed foliage.

Wow, it was lucky for the CD guys that the fire did not restart when they are inside investigating, otherwise it will be tragic like Australia.

All the photo posted are better than the papers.
