All the shots are taken at Alexandra Hospital Butterfly Trail Gardens.

A picture will tell a thousand words Below is the setup:

Olympus C-750 + Canon 250D (Handheld due to no lens adapter)
Achiever 115A/SSlave Flash + Omni-Bounce (from 550EX)
Manual mode
1/160 sec
f/8
Handheld

Distance is about 20cm. Learn how to approach the insects slowly and quietly and you will have not problem to take insect closeup shots.

In a word, simply "awesome". Yet more convincing evidence that its the user, and not the equipment, that matters. Great work megaweb!!!

after relooking at the shots, i am still amazed....

totally unbelievable!!

i currently have a VIVITAR +1 +2 +4 macro lens kit...

does the fact that megaweb uses the expensive CANON macro lens help in his crystal clear shots?

would my vivitar suffice?

hmm i guess i have to find out myself.. thanks!!

not sure expensive 250D/500D will help in providing better quality but for sure it will give lesser distortion.

hi megaweb!!

can i ask,
1. how much ur slave flash cost? i hope to get one as well...

2. does ur achiever allow u to control flash intensity?

3. a)how did u manage to get SPOT ON exposure for each shot?
3.b) did u have to take many shots with varying flash distances/settings/direction to get such good shots?

4. also was ur flash always attached to ur cam whenu took the shots? or did u detach it to allow for more customisable lighting?

5. does the fact that its a SLAVE flash, affect the range of shutter speed that u use? lets say i use 1/1000, would the slight delay caused by the triggering fo the slave cause it to be out of sync?

i was thinking of getting a EMOBLITZ, which is triggered by the camera itself... (not a slave)

its abt 75 bucks...

thanks!

Not mine .. should be around $20++

2. does ur achiever allow u to control flash intensity?
No

3. a)how did u manage to get SPOT ON exposure for each shot?
I use bounce method with Omni-Bounce and do some test exposures.

3.b) did u have to take many shots with varying flash distances/settings/direction to get such good shots?
using a closeup filter has only 1 focusing distance.

4. also was ur flash always attached to ur cam whenu took the shots? or did u detach it to allow for more customisable lighting?
tt depend on what u r shooting. Usually for me , I will use flash when taking macro , indoor and some outdoor shots.

5. does the fact that its a SLAVE flash, affect the range of shutter speed that u use? lets say i use 1/1000, would the slight delay caused by the triggering fo the slave cause it to be out of sync?
although it is a slave flash , the flash is not able to sync to the cam when in slave mode. however when the flash mount to the hot shoe , it can sync to all shutter speed.

i was thinking of getting a EMOBLITZ, which is triggered by the camera itself... (not a slave)

its abt 75 bucks...

never heard of it ..

try cathay photo, alan photo, etc. that flash has an automatic mode too, which means the flash will determine the flash exposure using the sensor that is on the front of the flash.

I like the 2 images the most, where life begin...
Remind me of this image taken from my planted aquarium.
The bubble was so small.

Taken by my X 990.
