Default My attempts at close up to dragonfly again.

Same as previous one, they just pose there for me.

Pic 2 is my preference, seems sharper to my failing eyes. Like the vividness of the pattern of the wings.

Thanks for sharing

Nice shots. Nice clean background in the 1st pic and good composition, the subject is sharp and well focused. U might try going a bit lower and closer in and bring the insect to eye level for even more details. (a tip I picked up from the great megaweb ).

Good effort, keep up the good work.

Thanks.
My setup is using a telephoto convertor + canon 250D.
So I can't go in any further unless I zoom out ?
If I removed my telephoto convertor and use the canon
250D alone and move closer in, will it scare the insect away ?

Just wondering, is this your normal setup for macro shots? You can try removing the tele-con and zooming all the way in with just the Canon 250D alone. Try experimenting with this setup and see wats the minimum focusing distance u can go to. Although with 250D, it shld be more or less a fixed distance.

This dragonfly isn't as frisky as the red coloured one, you just need to approach it very slowly and not make any sudden movements. This way, you can get fairly close to it with ur lens. If it flies off, just wait a while and normally it will return back to the stem or flower bud which it had been sitting on.

Hope this helps!

first shot is an eye catcher. Dragonfly's color blends well with the background
