Default Studio Model Shoot in May

Planning for studio model photo shoot in May, if you are interested, let me know. Pm me.

Date : May 10/17/24
Time : 2-6pm
Location : studio in East Singapore
Cost : $60 per photog per shoot
Ratio : 8 photogs to 1 model; each photog will have 2 sessions, each session will be 10 minutes.

- We will get a pro-model from modelling agency.
- Before the shoot, the group will meet and choose the model, the theme & the light setup.
- During the shoot (10 minutes), individual photog will direct the model to pose accordingly.

Here is some fine details about the studio model shoot, I hope it can answer everyone's doubt.

Details about the model: we hire professional model, with proper make-up and clothing, typically 1 set of long dress and 1 set of shorts. If the group of 8 can agree, then we can arrange for different kinds of clothing, (ie exotic) this is a group decision.

Details about the studio: the shooting area is 14 feet wide and 26 feet long, with 10 feet celing height, we have 2x Bowen 500W studio flash and 3x color backdrop paper (grey/blue/white), and some props, the photog just need to bring the camera with his fav lens, we will provide a Infra-red trigger so no sync cord is required.

Details about the shooting: the shooting is on a queue system, meaning 1 photog will shoot first, while the rest 7 will stay away in another room. Each photog will have 10 minutes on his own with the model, he will need to guide the model to pose whatever he likes, and communicate directly with the model. This is like a 1-to-1 session on a fashion shoot. After the 1st round is completed, we will ask the model to change to another clothing and we will also change the backdrop color and start the 2nd round. (another 10 minutes)

What do you do when you are not shooting and just waiting: we provide many photo magazines and fashion magazines for everyone to read, or you can go outside to smoke your cigarette, but in our past shoots, most people would just sit around and chit-chat about photography & equipment. Afterall this is our common interest.

What basic equipment you need: you need a camera with either a hot-shoe or a x-sync connector, and a lens, and some films or memory cards, and some batterys, everything else will be provided by the studio. Cameras that people used in the past few shoots include Sony F717, Nikon D100, F80, F90X, F100, Canon D60, EOS30, EOS5, Fuji S2Pro.

Lastly, if anyone want to see/observe before joining the shoot, you can send me a pm.

Oh, 1 more thing, when choosing models, we ensure the model will have good personality & professional, this is higher priority than pure pretty face & good figures.

Never tried one of these shoots before, so don’t mind my silly question.

This infra-red trigger… is something to attach to the hot-shoe, right?
Does the flash need time to recharge? Or can I shoot using continuous drive mode?

Has any members posted some of their studio shots here?

The Infra-red trigger is just a transmitter, it attaches to the camera hotshoe, and when the photographer presses the shutter, it will trigger on the studio flash. So the photographer can move around freely to shoot. Some of us acutally climb up a ladder to shoot from a high view point.

The studio flash is powered by mains, ie AC power. The recharge time is fast enough. You can shoot with continuous drive mode, but I don't see why you need to do that. The model will pose stationary for you to shoot, she will not move around. So when you are ready, you press the shutter. When you are not ready, you will wait. Got that?

I don't recommend posting any studio shots on the internet, due to the high incidents of leaching. If you need to see, pm me with your handphone number and email address, and I will send you privately.

Hi Stoppable, some correction here. The studio flash is actually not as fast as your camera's continuous drive mode. The studio flash needs about 1 second to recharge. Your camera's continuous drive mode should be faster than that.
