which is good? alan photo intro me metz36c-2 @ $100, worth it?

Based on the specs, it seems to be worth its price. But if you fork out a little more, you could get the more powerful vivitar 285 HV (if you don't mind the size).

Both the 36C2 and VIvitar 285HV can't swivel (for bouncing light off the ceiling when you're shooting in portrait orientation).

The 285HV is stronger by about 20% and price is ~30% more. It also weighs quite a lot more than the 36C2....

I think he meant turning left/right. The flash can be tilted up/down but not left/right. Correct me if I am wrong, I dun own an external flash though

Newbie123, you're right. The 36C2 and 285HV can tilt vertically 90 degrees but cannot swivel horizontally.

some problem faced, is tat normal if i use say around 35mm for my camera and 85mm for my flash and notice some shadow of the flash?

Yes. Because when you zoom the flash to 85mm it will have a field of coverage approximately equivalent to that of a 85mm lens.

Thus it will be unable to illuminate the field of view of a 35mm.

When you zoom the flash, you are trading coverage angle for a more focused beam with greater reach.
