Default canon eos 300v

Dear all,
I wanna get a proper AF SLR. Looking at the EOS 300V. Any comments/help would be appreciated. Any idea where to get a good deal and what does the basic package contain would also be helpful.

Blur,
tagclieg2

p.s. i have a canon g2 currently but need an SLR to really experience photography...

Package has 1 body and a 28-90mm lens. Brand new should be $565 and second hand should be $350. If you can afford it I suggest a EOS30 and buy a lens of your choice. Maybe you can state your budget so we can help you. The 28-90mm lens is not recommended although I did not see the results of the 2nd version (should be better) of this lens but the 1st version is awful. I own both version I and II before.
The only complain about the EOS300v is that the flash pops out when hooked on to something but no harm so long as it doesn't break off.

Hmm... You can try CP, but I think you have to ask the others for cheapest price around because I only buy my stuff from Cathay! You tried to PM me earlier? I have cleared by inbox

I believe there is someone selling his EOS30 for a very attractive price in the buy and sell forums....frankly speaking I'll consider that offer seriously if I were you.

Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with the seller

Consider getting a second hand EOS50 (about $300). More bang for the buck.

If that is the original camera then it will come with the ver. II lens The color of the lens is the same as the body. Can't remember if there is a II there.

I thought the EOS300 is good value ( which of course I bought 2) until the 300V came along. Light and robust I have taken the 300 to jungles, wet, humid, hot....in short among the worst places you would want to bring a camera, and came up well and alive. I expect the 300V to be the same, and with it already so cheap there's no reason not to take the plunge, but I strongly recommend you not to get the lens. you will want to sell it very soon and end up wasting money for it. Get a decent lens to go with it. The 28-105 USM is tremendous value and can be found as little as S$250 on the used market.

If you want additional features such as faster shutter speed I would suggest the EOS50. EOS30 is a mystery to me, after using it for several times I still don't see the justification for having it, if you want to pay such a ridiculous price I would suggest a 2nd hand EOS5 instead (which I'm also using), for the faster shutter, more motordrive control and absolutely essential buttons on the vertical grip.

These recommendations came with my experiences with E-TTL. Even when snapshooting I have seen little difference with this and A-TTL or even TTL. However E-TTL remote flash system is far superior than any others and the flash preview feature can be helpful at times.

I love equipment lust! else I would never be able to get my 3rd 550EX for <$400 in near-new condition, or the 75-300IS for <$500. I am patiently waiting for the 16-35L and the 70-200IS to replace my 70-200.

Default canon eos 300v

as a current user of the EOS300, i would say that i have no regrets getting this camera. It is proven to be able to hold its own against its bigger brother, the EOS30 in terms of functions. (unless of cause you want rear curtain sync or motor drive). With 2.5 fps shooting, it beats the 300 @1.5fps.

IT COMES WITH A METAL MOUNT !!! which makes u able to use heavier lenses like the 70-200. but u may want to get the veritcal grip for better support and grip.

I have seen the 300V and would say that like the 1V, it is an upgrade from the previous model in terms of functions etc.

Get it. Even if you outgrow the camera (ie. you want to become a pro and join in the 1s, 3s ,60s or the L lens club.) it will still come in handy when travelling (its weight is only a meer 375g, half that of a EOS30).

I myself wouldn't think twice about bringing it along with me for long trips or backpacking to take great photos rather than a pns instant camera.

Your lady friends will love it coz :
1. its light
2. its silvery cool
3. it takes great pictures

BUY !!! BUY !!! BUY !!!

I won't be too sure about it. EOS300 also can use those heavier lens but whether any thing will crack under those weights I will not place my bets that EOS300v wouldn't.

Precisely why I say 300v and 300 in this aspect is no different you got to hold the heavy lens not the body.
