Haha! I was there, on the other side. Saw you taking photos, but you were too far away from me to say hi. (:

Hi Richard, I didn't see you. I was too drunk and high on this high octane jazz.

Don't forget good food and good beer....

Cheers.... to the good life, Streetshooter.

kanekoichi, I believe the one you saw with Canon with 70-200mm F2.8 is Canturn. I didn't move around that much.

First to appear on the programme was Thomson Big Band. I was expecting something like Benny Goodman or Glenn Miller type of big band music but I was totally wrong. All the numbers rendered by Thomson Big Band on Chijazz 2002 were unmistakably catered for hip and young jazz fans…. Including me, of course.

The leader of the band is on the 3rd guy from the left.

Our local boys?

This is one cool American MC also plays sax solo to entertain audience during each intermezzo. He said he has been staying in Singapore for …9 years? Probably that explains why missing a phone call is not an option?

Or is it?

Ah… he ain’t no kiasu. The phone is switched off.

Jeremy Monteiro, the Singapore King of Swing, the 2002 recipient of the Cultural Medallion Award, receiving a warm applause from audience after singing a beautiful melancholic song, “Blame it on my heart”

Eldee Young, the original bassist of the Ramsey Lewis Trio. If you love Louis Armstrong, you would probably love Eldee more.

Jeremy, jamming with Eldee

Paul Ponnudorai’s guitar may be small but he got power! His solo rendition on “House of the Rising Sun” is even hotter than “Chilli Padi”. Paul is from Malaysia.

Our very own jazz diva, Jacintha Abisheganadan, sang “Lady is a tramp”. One of her jazz albums once made the U.S. Billboard top 50 jazz album charts.

More photos to come…. Next: Keiko Matsui and her band.

Keiko Matsui. Don’t let her docile look deceive you. This lady is HOT!!! She got 14 albums released. She will be performing today 8PM at Kallang Theater. She does mostly contemporary & new age type of jazz.

Keiko's bass player, Mel Brown, is from New York.

A fusion of oriental pentatonic sound alike tunes and a western contemporary rock jazz beats were sweetly rendered with a full energy blast from the Keiko Matsui's band

Michael Ghegan

Keiko’s husband, Kazu Matsui, played a new age type of music with a shakuhachi, the Japanese flute.

Next after Keiko Matsui was a KL based jazz band, led by Greg Lyons. The band is less than one year old but …. it sure got style! It delivers high octane performance soul jazz in a very energetic funky way.

Another member of Biophonics, Jaime Wilson, from Australia,

Maria Angela, A KL’s Jazz Diva, has a sweet voice of a teenage girl. Her megatons of energies would put most 17-year-old teenage girls to shame.

Another jazz singer from Malaysia during in-between song break. When he sings and dances, you will need a high speed camera like 1/2000,000 seconds to capture him

Were you the one in yellow T-shirt who talked to the Leica's old Ang Moh? Yes, I could feel the speakers' powerful kick pounding my chest but it was quite thrilling.

Ah.. so we have met. You and I exchanged smiles only last night. I am the one using 70-200 Sigma. I was alone there. I guess there were some other lonely souls from Clubsnap out there too. Did you take any pics of DJ Dave & Kaye or stay until 1AM?
