Any idea how much it'll retail for? Saw it selling on a UK website for 589 pounds.~ abt SGD 1600+. Very ex man.

same lens as the xx40 series i think. same 3x zoom also but yeah, 5mp.

the newer cameras like the 717 and the minolta 7hi are already here. Wonder when the Oly will come. Can't wait liao.

I MIGHT be waiting for this. Has all the features I need, except that the zoom might not be quite enough. Also depends on the pricing...

I had the chance to test this camera a few weeks ago.
Here are some findings: 1. Resolution at 5MP is damn awesome. Which means that the lens (first found on the 3040Z) still holds well for this sensor. I did a test shot of a building about 400 meters away, with the lens zoom out fully. The amount of fine detail in the image was pretty amazing, given that the sensor is that tiny. Noise level is held down to as good as the 4040. 2. The write speed is incredible. I tested it with both an MD and an XD card. This is the fastest writing camera I have tried. The XD is noticeably faster than an SM card. 3. Handling wise, it's improved tremendously over the 4040. It's going to be launched next week so watch out for it. ![]() |

Any idea whether this camera will suffer the same chromatic abberviation (?) problems previous Olympus models have had? How dya think it will stack up against the Canon G3?
