Seems like the WX-1 is a good grab Maybe I'll get that cuz I'm looking for a new compact camera to replace the Sony T200 I lost during transit :\

How much is it roughly?
Can call the various popular shops like mscolor to ask.

i used nikon's capture nx2. just mask the top and bottom and apply gaussian blur effect, leaving a small area that looks sharp, so that it looks like its a macro shot. than up the contrast and sharpness. i still new at this, so just trying.

Wow. I was going to buy myself a Panasonic GF-1. But this little cam looks like a whole lot more fun as a holiday snapper. I'm going to buy one tomorrow.

there is a trade in offer for sony now. trade in an old camera for 100 rebate to get the wx1. i am tempted despite the fact that my spare t70 is still in good working condition

one thing abt this camera is that this is not made in JAPAN...

just bought it today... cool camera...! the sweep panorama... is sooo cool

Hi, can someone enlighten me on the important differece between TX1 & WX1? Based on looks alone, I would prefer TX1 but I don't want to make the wrong decision.

Also, if someone can tell me which shop offers the best deal now?

The current trade-in promo is good but unfortunately, I just don't have one old digicam around. I wish I had known about the offer during sitex though.

specs wise, the main difference is the lenses (WX using G lens,TX using carl zeiss).besides WX has wider angle 24mm, made in china whereas TX is made in japan.

check sony cybershot website (there's a compare function)

you prob know the usual shops (cathay,MScolor)

to compare quality quickly, just bring along a memory stick duo to any sonystyle to try lor

Thanks, about he lens difference. Is one known to be better than the other? I see no one seems to be buying TX1 here, so I'm just curious if I choose TX1 (simply because I like the looks) I could be missing out on something important?

From the comparision below, I pick out a few differences:

http://www.sony.com.sg/product/Compa...models=DSC-WX1

1. Aperture TX1 Auto (F3.5 - F7.1) / Program Auto (F3.5 - F7.1)
WX1 Auto (F2.4 - F5.9) / Program Auto (F2.4 - F5.9)

does this mean WX1 takes better nite shots?

2. ISO sensitivity TX1 starts from 125
WX1 starts from 160

Is this important?

3. Flash range - WX1 is bigger

4. Mode Dial - TX1 nothing, WX1- iAuto / Program Auto / Easy / Anti Motion Blur / Handheld Twilight / Sweep Panaroma / SCN / Movie

meaning TX1 is purely auto, just PnS, nothing to choose on the mode?

5. Battery life - TX1 250 shots vs WX1 350 shots. Seems significant to me.

6. Macro Auto Focus Range TX1 W: Approx. 8cm to Infinity, T: Approx. 50cm to Infinity

WX1- nothing indicated there.

What does this mean? WX1 not able to take close macro shots?

Thanks in advance for helping to clarify my doubts.

You've got to try out both cameras to find out which is better for you. The TX-1 is a touch screen camera. Same for all the T series cameras from Sony. The W series is the value for money feature laden segment for Sony compact PnS. It has most of the bells and whistles. It's a trade-off between slightly better specs (W series) and style (T-series).
