Default My First...

Received my first bouquet of roses in my life from my girlfriend. Moreover, I just bought a SMC Super Takumar 50mm F1.4. So decided to snap a few shots of the bouquet and make it an eternal memory. This one was the best out of all the shots. C&C welcome as I am looking to improve on my skills. Thanks!

if its from a bouquet then u should show everything else the picture doesnt mean anything let alone an eternal memory.

These flower can just be from anywhere across the street.

The Rose looks great, just need to boost the saturation a little more.

I believe you have taken a pic of both you two and the roses, because that is really the moment you want to freeze eternally.

To be frank, I think this is more of close up than macro shot.

Composition can be improved, colors can can be more vibrant. You have to find the angle to make your main subject pop out of the whole picture.

I know this picture is not classified as a macro shot, since the lens is not a macro lens. So I do agree with this picture being a close-up shot. Maybe position the rose more to the left? Would that be better?

Yes, I agree the colors need to be a bit more vibrant and saturated. I have a few shots with better angles, but they didn't turn out as sharp as this one, probably due to me still not used to a manual-focus lens.

a close up can turn out to be a supreme macro. its what you want that counts. there are many guys here who have been shooting macro without a true macro lens and pictures turn out to be superb.

I agree with aaSKaa. You do not need true macro lens to classify the shot as macro but rather how it was presented. To me, if you compose the picture well and adjust the lighting, colors or even with some cropping etc, it can also turn out to be a great macro like aaSKaa pointed out.

Don't take things too hard. We are learning from each other everyday and learning is infinite to me as everyday I learn something new and precious . Shoot more, practice more and I'm sure that you will become a great macro shooter in no time.
