Default Taking photos on a cruise.

Hi all,
I'm new to this photography stuff. I'm going on a cruise with friends next month and thought of bringing my D90 to try taking some pictures. Any advice from friends here.? What I should take along etc etc...
Thanks in advance.

Bring a cleaning cloth, maybe an external flash for the dinner shots. Most importantly, have fun and try not to turn taking photos into the main reason for the trip.

during my cruise, i had trouble with condensation. i think the air conditioning on the ship indoor area was quite cold, so when i went outdoors my lenses fogged up.

also, you might think of bringing a tripod, but it will not be very useful, my advice is to not bother.

lastly, the sunrises and sunsets from cruise ships can be absolutely beautiful depending on where you sail to. i would really bother to get up for every single one of them.

Take a CPL because a lot of Sun shots.
And bring along your lens cleaning cloth as the lens flog up a lot when you take out from the safe.

At night the moon and the scenery is also beautiful but without a tripod, it is very difficult to shoot.

Bring an alarm clock, you do not want to miss the sun rise and sun set.

Bring a neck strap so that the chance of your camera dropping into the deep blue sea gets lesser.

the ship is moving, and you are likely to use beyond 50mm to shoot to minimise space in the open sea.

i am not sure if a tripod will be useful. i remember bringing one, and shooting short exposures anyways.

only time i used it was when the ship was anchored.
