I like this one. The framing is perfect in no cutting any of the model's body parts.
Me also went there on the last day. Here my moderate shots on this event: http://www.flickr.com/photos/albertt...7620854305061/. |

Yes, just a normal SB600 flash.
My DSLR is only a D60. ![]() Keep the comments coming though.... ![]() |

classic case of fire and forget
you can do better than just record shots, but every single of these is a record shot, i.e. like collecting pokemon |

Nice capture, IMHO you may want to "tone-down" on your PP on the skins. Most of the cosplayers are quite young and have relatively "nice" skin complexion hence sometime less is more...

I did ask some of the cosplayers to try various poses. It's never a fire and forget case.
Mind you they are not trained to pose as models. I respect them to play the anime character that they are supposed to portray. The pics here are only 3% of what I have taken during the 2 days. As for other shots, I have no control as most of the time, the cosplayers are surrounded by too many 'enthu' photographers. Do share your views too. |

well, then it is good you post this in reportage, because it fits that better, the lighting here can be done better, even without flash, and using ambient light
if you just want to show every cosplayer present, then fine and dandy, you have set out what you wish to do if you want to shoot shots that look more than just that, then composition, angles, knowing when to shoot, waiting for people to move away, photography is a lot more than just pressing the shutter. if that is your purpose, then there is always the option not to press the button, to put it bluntly. |

I do wish I can wait for the other photographers to move away when I'm the one who request the cosplayer personally to pose.
Other photographers would move in like a swarm of bees and shoving you from side to side and 'cutting' into the queue instead. The cosplayer will then grow tired and walk away b4 I can take more decent shots. ![]() ![]() In spite of the crowd involved, I still think it's good practice for amateurs like me. |
