Hi,
For those who are planning to get Nikon D5000 and wants to see how the night shot perform, here are some test shots from my D5000 taken @ Marina Barrage on last Friday evening. All EXIF are still intact, no PP just resizing & signature input. All photos are shot with Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens on tripod with VR off except #12 & #13 handheld. Here's Part I of the photos: Part I #01 ![]() #02 ![]() #03 ![]() #04 ![]()

Very nice tones, colours and composition!
Did you use one of the scene modes, or PASM? Thanks! |

Ooops, sorry - the EXIF is still intact, and visible in Nikon Capture NX2.
Impressive settings you've dialled in there - congrats! |

Have been using it for about 1½ mths, I would say it's a great & excellent DSLR after downgrading from D200. It's light weight & easy to lug around if you don't mind the plastic body. At least I didn't really miss my D200 features in the D5000. Most important I still get back my 11 AF-point, CAM1000 plus some of the customise setting in the menu. The image quality and contrast is good & an impressive high ISO performance, thanks to the new CMOS sensor replacing the CCD. Surpisingly AF is still fast although it doesn't have a built-in AF-motor. The battery life is so much better then my previous D200. The only set back is the live view mode, the AF is slow & sometimes hunts in low light. Anyway I can go without it. Lastly, video mode wasn't that good, my LX3 can do better. All-in-all I should give a

Nice shots!
The noise at ISO 3200 seems to be good. Not very noisy..

Hi, thanks for the cropped image, that location is exactly where I hoped to view!
With images like this, especially when no PP is done, the gear you have is a great combo. Amazing performance Last edited by HeiPiGu; 16th June 2009 at 05:05 PM. |

Wah! Swee...
D5000 is really impressive. Guess I'll go for D5000 instead of D90 & save $$$ to invest AF-S lenses. ![]() |
