I have seen there is a shop sale EF 1.4X II at HK$2,100.00. It is quite cheap compare with Singapore. I email them is it come with warranty. My friend told me that some shop sale gery lens normally come with shop warranty or local warranty. But this shop email back to me say the lens for this price so not have any warranty, but if you want with warranty the price will be HK$2,900.00. Is any one know what is the different? Thanks!

yup.
i just bought a 5D kit for HK$23,000, that;s including a CF 4.0GB Ultra II.

for body it's HK$16,800.
i think if bargain, can get even cheaper.

there are 2 kinds.
$2100 is 水貨
no warranty, coz they import it from some other countries themselves.

$2900 is 行貨
they get it from HK local Canon supplier and comes with warranty.

there's no difference except the warranty.

Yeah...I just can't imagine pricing between HK and Singapore can have so much difference. Probably because HK doesn't have GST, but then, even include GST also won't be so much difference. So where does all the profit goes?

The pricing difference for the EOS 5D kit (with 24-105mm) between HK and SG is $1000!!! How much can GST be???

Sg used to be a shopping paradise, especially for electronic goods. We used to be one of the cheapest. Guess we cannot say the same for now!!!

HK is tax free.. better than SG. SG is 7%..

Hong kong price is more than 7% better than SG. From my rough computation, around 20%. How to account for the 13%?

I think it is all due to the size of the market. Singapore's market is definitely way smaller compares to HongKong's market. Being a larger market, they will be selling more units and thus they could aford to lower their profit margin, either through the dealer side or the supplier side.

hhhmmm 580 EXII is selling at S$679.52, is this considered cheap in HK ? if it is den can consider getting a fren to buy it for me. But is there any hidden cost like warranty or something ? Enlighten me pls ....
