I don't think it is much easier even with an LCD viewfinder... those tiny PSs tend to blend into the background.

A dive guide in Tulamben once thought me a trick for shooting Pymgys and other small critters: carry a knitting needle with you and thread it through the coral pointing at the subject- that way its easier to locate the subject when shooting.

yeah true, but I would really appreciate a live preview LCD ...hmm Olympus E330

I stared through the view finder until I got blurred vision and I had to ascend to shallower depths. I wasn't too sure its because of straining my eyes too much or the nitrogen level in my blood, but I don't want to be featured on the news for the wrong reason

Obviously this has to be done with some care not to harm the coral. The way I saw it done was very gentle. But I take your point that it is better not to touch the coral at all.

Really? maybe I haven't got used to it underwater, when I was down there I had a feeling that if I stared at it any longer, my eyeball gonna drop out

errr... if you noticed, that was only a suggestion given...I did not have any physical pointing aid which makes locating the subject through the viewfinder very difficult.

Thanks for the compliments but I must admit that I got it by luck because I can't see clearly what I am shooting

Good first try Ang! Is this with the Olympus E300? Did you manage to fit all your gear into the Pelican case?

Thanks . No, the housing was too bulky. I took out the handle/tray and all the arms. Only manage to have the housing, 2 strobes, one dome port and one flat port inside

Yes, it is the E300

No worries, just pointing out that the thread was going OT, when the discussion should have been on the excellent pic. No doubt, after squinting thru a viewfinder trying to focus on the damn thing, you sometimes wish you had a neon sign pointing the subject out.

Hey, I think most of us will confess that getting a great picture is 80% luck.
