Here's my 1st attempt on 1, I believed the lightning is over at Changi Airport, near to where I stay. F22 on bulb, 9secs to be exact

Thanks Drudkh and Areality!

Areality...you may want to crop your pics for better composition.

Can't.
I'm pointing to the extreme left of my window already. That's the leftmost I can go.

Below is another 1 taken on another date.. Quite subtle lightning... Taken at ard 6.30am, where there is a little blue in the sky..

Hi guys... thx for sharing ur pix. I'm a relative new newbie to photography but maybe I could just point out some things for taking lightning pix. Mostly, all your shots were over exposed, meaning the sky and the buildings all look too bright imo. I think this is most probably either due to high iso setting or a big aperture setting.

I discovered that by setting your aperture to the smallest, ie highest F22 or 36, and at the lowest ISO, ie ISO 100, you can minimise the overexposure and also gather enough time to capture the lightning.

If I am to do it again, I would do this:

Set ISO to lowest, aperture to minimum, do an autofoucus on the furthest building or by manual forcus if it's too dark. Set camera on manual mode using bulb. Bulb by camera trigger is no good. Best use an RC.

Just snap and wait. If you go at the lowest aperture, even 60 secs of exposure won't make ur pix overexposed. But then again, you may have captured mutilple lightnings at diff timings together which is kinda impressive to see.

FYI, i tried at F/36 just now on bulb for 150 secs, the buildings and sky look just nice..not over and under exposed.

So guys, hope you dunt mind me a newbie on these points

Thnaks for the advice.

I am using Prosumer, FZ10, set at smallest apeture which is F8, and set to the longest shutter possible i.e. 8s. And yes focused at distant building.

Pic is cropped, levels, curves and colour balanced.
