Default Epson R210 Problem

Hi folks,

I installed the printer last night, and at the same time installed all the software that it asked me to on my PC (Win2K).

Funny thing is that during the first test print, the printer head will move left and right for a while then start printing, it would print at most 1/4 of the page then the head will pause, print another line, pause, then finally move back to the 'resting' point and stop printing totally.

I restarted my system whilst leaving the printer on/off, I noticed that when the system started with the printer is off, and turned it on, there would be a USB device unknown and an exclaimation mark. This never happened with my HP Deskjet

After a few tries it managed to print up to 3/4 of the test page before the same thing happened again, the head moved back to the starting point.

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled only the driver this time on my laptop, it worked perfectly, printed with no problems.

Then I installed the driver only on my PC, this time the test page printed successfully, I also printed a A4 image and 4R image as mentinoed in my other thread.

Today I started up the system without the printer on, but now the same thing happens again, the CD label printed only the top half and the head paused again, went back to the 'resting' point and stopped.

I rebooted, leaving the printer on, but the test page now also only prints 1/4.

Sigh... anybody knows what am I facing?

Being a hardware guy, installing a printer shouldn't be this difficult

If you read my post carefully... I mentioned I already tried it on my laptop with WinXP, and it works.

Tried 3 different drivers from 3 different locations already, changed USB ports upon recommendation from Epson tech support also, but to no avail, they're referring the case up to their engineers.

Problem solved, many thanks to J. Koh who spent nearly the entire afternoon after lunch troubleshooting and advicing me what to do via ICQ.

Finally had the issue solved.

Thanks again.
