Any idea what is the f/ at 200mm for this sigma len ?
I am comparing assuming i don't use the extra 50mm.
aungzawwin's shot are in focus what
i also did not have problems with the focusing
for non sports images i would say the focusing is ok
what makes you say the focusing is weak??

Re: Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical Field Test
Went to Funa to have a good feel of the lens, but i found something strange on the tammy 18-270
when my carmera (Nikon D80) was doing AF, i can see a "jump" in the viewfinder. As if the VC "kick in". Do not detect the same issue with nikkor 18-200 VR or sigma 18-250 OS.
The sales person told me it is normal and it happen to all copies for this lens
Well have doubt on his words. Has anyone encounter the same problem????

yes..it should be normal
..i tested several copies when i bought this lens..all did the same
and you will hear some wirrrring noise while VC is doing its job..but it's not as loud as my C70-200L IS lens does..
and yes..N18-200VR lens does not behave like this..
in fact, after using it for a while, i'm so used to it that i don't notice it at all
i switch on the VC all the time..no worries..

Got tired of going to kids performances, and not being able to get a good shot 'cos it's too far away. So could you advise if the Tamron is good for these type of shows? Low light, no flash, far away, movement? If not, is the Canon L lens better? and which one?
Thanks.
I have the Tamron 18-270 and although I really like the lens, I would not recommend it for indoor performances in an auditorium or hall. It would not be good in low light. I personally use it as a travel lens and it is very useful in that capacity. I also have a Canon 70-200 F4 L lens and have used in in a very low light setting in a large hall. It worked flawlessly. I would highly advise you to get a lens like this for this kind of use. The Tamron is great for travel, but I think you would be frustrated in a large hall with low light.
Good luck with your purchase.

I have used the 18-270 lens for about 3 weeks now and have not noticed this on my Canon camera. Perhaps this issue is unique to Nikon and its VR technology???? Has anyone seen this issue on their Canon's???

i will rephrase
low light needs fast lens or tripod
fast lens = lens with big aperture eg f2.8 and bigger
but nowadays high iso can also compensate for slower lenses

Hi Mr Ortega. I would like to know how acceptable is the zoom creep on this 18-270mm len to you? I know most lens with this sort of range has tendency of zoom creep. Thank you very much.

Update: I have now noticed the tendency of this lens to "jump". It's happened only a few times and does not affect the normal operation of the camera. Someone else mentioned that this is normal for this lens. I have no reason to doubt that statement.... so far.

Just to add in a few words....i'm using Sigma 18-200MM OS on 40D and it jumps too but not always. I just take it that dat's the OS kicking in.....

Why would you want to get at Comex?
Think you can probably get a better deal at camera shops.
