If there's improvement, it's not significant.

I just updated the firmware. Like I said, if there is AF speed improvement, it's not significant. I don't feel that it's any different before the upgrade.
The noise from clattering aperture blades is very much reduced to the point it blends into ambient noise. That's a significant improvement.

Hey Daredevil, would Fujifilm loan you another set with upgraded firmware? It'd be nice to have a before after comparison side by side

Hi zan82, I tested the X-pro1 with the older firmware, prior to the release of the the current firmware. I do not have the X-pro1 anymore with the new firmware. Maybe some of the bros here with the X-pro1 would like to talk about the differences here?

Re: Fujifilm X-Pro1 Review (production release)
X-pro1 High ISO 100% crops comparison. (ISO1600 to ISO12800)
Lens used 18mm F2. Shot in Standard JPEG, handheld, straight out of camera.
I did a quick test of the X-pro1's High ISO performance. I have to say I am impressed with the results on JPEG. To my eyes, it is at least on par with, if not better than, the output from my Nikon D700. Here are the 100% crops placed side by side. Please note this is not a scientific test and the results are just a gauge of what this camera is capable of, and is in no way the final authority on actual ISO performance.
X-pro1 at ISO6400
Here is the full size picture shot at ISO6400, which is the ISO I am personally most interested in. As you can see, it is extremely usable at reduced sizes (800 x 533 px in this case). Downsized by Flickr. You can click the link to download the original full sized file.

Colors
Colors from the X-pro1 is simply amazing. Even in a high DR scene, the camera produced excellent colors. Here are a couple of shots to show you its performance in color rendering. Pictures here are shot handheld in JPEG, in Aperture priority mode. Out of camera JPEGs are opened in photoshop, watermark added, and saved to Jpeg in maximum quality setting (12) in Baseline optimized mode. No other adjustments or resizing was done.
