Re: Pentax MX-1 Handson Review
Here came to the most fun part, break the piñata (candy box). This time instead of breaking it w/ a bat, the kids had to pull the strings together to get the candis out:

It's pretty hard to get all the kids inline w/o some of them pulling the strings earlier:

Now! Grab as many as you can:

Re: Pentax MX-1 Handson Review
Some post process might be overly done 'cause I used some pre-defined Actions in Photshop CS6, which were meant for my dSLR RAW files. Anyway, hope you guys like these.

Pizza Hut is definitely not a restaurant!

I have not seen Bokeh that Great and round in a compact point & shoot, actually i doubt there is a compact that produced Bokeh. Nice photos, thanks Fengwei.
Maybe over next few photos could you take some w evening shots, outdoor and indoor?

Bokeh needs a fast lens. Not something that can be easily done within the size limitation of compacts. The MX-1 is big enough to allow the inclusion of a bigger sensor and the required elements to make this happen. One or 2 compacts has done this previously but never in such a sexy body

Re: Pentax MX-1 Handson Review
Fengwei, thanks for the initial impressions.
It does seem that the MX-1 is very flexible with a fast zoom lens.
Nice bokeh too for a compact (ie. not just shallow DOF, but bokeh).

Re: Pentax MX-1 Handson Review
Thanks guys for your comments. Yes, it's indeed a very nice and versatile camera. I played LX7 and XZ-2 briefly, I feel the MX-1 takes better photos than the LX7 (other than the 24mm wide end on this one), on par of XZ-2 if not better. Low light performance is pretty good for such a small camera.

At least the sensor is bigger. Saw it today at TK for $690, looked cool.

Re: Pentax MX-1 Handson Review
Hi Fengwai,
I was wondering if the post processing affected the bokeh- the bokeh looks quite nice, especially for a compact- Would I see this quality if it was just straight from the camera?

I didn't do anything on the bokeh. Other than some usual adjustment (level/curve) then resize w/ abit sharpening, I haven't done much processing on these photos. Actually I never like to do a lot post process other than these.
