Re: Why use a Pentax ? - An Introduction :)
that video is made in 2011, no DA40xs is not out yet,
by the way, that video can not represent all the pentaxian, as I choose Pentax because they have decent entry level DSLR with 1/6000 shutter, 12800 ISO, shake reduction, catch-in-focus, HD video, AA battery without using a grip, and tons of choice of old k-mount lens.
for those who migrate from digital compact camera, spending 1000 dollar on camera just looks insane to those casual hobbyist who just loves taking photo and know nothing about camera equipment. at beginning, it confused me a lot when I first knew some people spending 9000 dollars on a camera that cannot do HD video and can not autofocus.
My first 600 dollar Pentax DSLR setup: (who say you cant get a good DSLR at compact camera price)

- a like-new 2nd hand Kx
- DAL 18-55 kit lens (good start wide angle zoom)
- Pentax M 50mm f1.7 (a fast prime)
- Pentax M 200mm f4 with a cheap 2x teleconvertor (a cheap telephoto, upto 400mm like compact zoom cameras)
- a K-mount 28-135mm zoom (digged from my father film camera)
a very affordable start kit, without breaking the bank.
Then, there is LBA for those affordable K mount manual lens.

And Finally, I got cured from LBA, sold out most of my lens collection and back to my 600 dollar 1-camera-2-lens budget setup,
- a workhorse kx
- Pentax M 37-70 f2.8 (one of best manual zoom, my "28-70 f2.8" like killer zoom)
- Pentax A 70-210 f4 (another pentax best manual zoom, fights well against the canon 70-200f4 L )

Re: Why use a Pentax ? - An Introduction :)
i feel a bit guilty... i don't even own a single pentax lens... :P
for me, lenses i prefer get 3rd party. a lot cheaper, gets the work done. so that aside, what i am looking for is a cheap body that is decently spec-ed on the 2nd hand market.
k-5 tops my list
