Taken with Pentax Q. I doubt the new one will be called K1 as it may have confusion with the K-01. Some sites are listing the K-01 in its shortened form as "K1"

Since Pentax is using back older model names, anyone remembers what they used for top of the line models back then?

it would really be nice if they can make the focus point smaller..

[del]That would be a Photoshop image of MZ-S, it take a close look of re-touched body texture around K-1.[/del]
(update: yes, it is the prototype, it does exist long time ago, but wonder why the k-1 text looks wield in this image though)
as a reference:

even the shutter dial is the same, unlikely

Depends on what you want. Since the Nikon mount has almost the same diameter you can't use a straight screw-on adapter to the Pentax mount so you'll need an adapter that is a bit like a tube but the with Nikon has a shorter flange registration(if memory serves me right) you will not be able to correctly focus to infinity so you'll need to find with one with an optical element inside it that corrects this. Plus because of that, it becomes slightly telecentric.
Better buying cheap m42 lenses bro or better yet K-mount lenses. They can be had for a reasonable price if you search for it in the classifieds or you can drop by the shop at Peninsular Shopping centre -opposite of Ruby, I think its called CameraX or something, he might have a few.

No, it is an actual K-1 prototype also known as the MZ-D and MR52 way back in 2000. It was planned to be made with the same sensor as the Contax N digital but it was canned. So its making its way round the demo and exhibition circuit - kinda sad and a bit pathetic actually. I know, I know, I sound crabby at the last part but a bit frustrating when someone keep showing you vaporware.

nay... not frustrating at all... a frank reminder of the fact that it could've been worse
the philips sensor that it was based on was so noisy that the contax was a flop... we don't see contax dslrs around anymore...

yes, agree, bro. Too troublesome. Anyway, I am sure Pentax lenses would be better, not to forget that Asahi has started off making lenses.
and that one of their Pentax is the world’s first TTL autofocus SLR camera. Can't be wrong!

It wasn't that bad in 2001. my ISO 400 film around that time also wasn't as clean as today's digital outputs. It's main drawback was that you can't review raw files in-camera. Anyhow, it was the only 135 digital body when it got released anyway. If you look around you will find many great shots done with it 10 years ago that look remarkable.

I agree the picture quality is amazing, and still manage to hold its own (low iso of course) for a 6mp camera, even now.

The things they look out for in a camera is not what real photographers look out for.
Typically they go for the tech stuff and even then its pretty layman (eg. purely megapix; highest ISO; no noise w/o regard to details)
Anyway, they are willing to give Pentax a nod as a very good sub $1K camera which already is an improvement from what this site typically says about Pentax stuff.

Re: K-30 Hands-on Review on Pentax Singapore Facebook ...
Hi all,
i am currently using the k-r, and thinking of upgrading to k-5, during this GSS promotion.
however, now I got confused between k-5 and k-30.
i wanted to upgrade to k-5 because:
- the front/back control dial
- TAv
- to have easier control to change focus point (the k-r button is difficult to use when the eye is on the viewfinder, somehow i can't get used to quickly change focus point)
- less shutter noise will be good, the k-r shutter sounds very loud everytime i take a picture
i am just an amateur, taking still life photos, portraits of friends, families. i mainly use the 35mm lens.
how much difference will the price of k-30 compared to the GSS k-5?
thanks.
