Been trying out the Nik HDR Efex Pro, and I've got to say that I'm certainly replacing Photomatrix with it.
The photomatrix version had funny zones of bright parts that 'leaked' into areas that were supposed to be mid-tones and quite a few of my photos taken at the same location (ie. same lighting condition) intended for HDR sat around undone as they all had this problem.
(or maybe I just don't understand how to work photomatrix )

The main reason why I no longer use GND filters despite the fact that they are really useful sometimes in contrasty lighting: the Pentax K5's wonderful DR at ISO80, particularly in the shadows. Basically I don't want to spend money on the really good ones which don't add a cast. Here's one example shot at Veerasamy Road yesterday:
Out of camera JPG.
Saved 3 exposures from the single RAW file and blended manually in Photoshop to create this result.
Shot with the Pentax K5 and Tamron 10-24mm.
