Need help on Nissin Di866 flash

Im using D7000 when every time I press my shutter button, the top control panel will light up if my Di866 Mark II is switched on and it don't when I switch my flash off.

my "LCD illumination" is off..

Is this behavior normal?

I have the same combination and also have the same behavior, so I think its normal.
