I'm curious to know how different is this compared to numerous parabolic umbrella offerings from various manufacturers?
At that premium price you can probably get a 86" similar umbrella?

I assume that the established brands would have done calcutlations to optimize the design for their light heads..
Also that the others could just copy any design and hope it works on ones particular source of light .
Without R&D costs one could make it very competitve and make greater profits.

I trust the stuff that Profoto makes.
The XL umbrella works for me so it makes no sense to use XYZ brand .
    Unless I use XYZ lights.
    - just my opinion . . .

    Hi fellow Profoto users,

I'm interested in purchasing a lighting kit for portraiture/fashion shoots and I need the flexibility of being able to shoot indoor or on location. I was wondering if it is a better idea getting the D1 kits or D4 heads with a generator/battery or the Acuteb2 Air kit? I do not need so much power for my lights, was thinking 250-600WS would be sufficient and I only require 1-2 lights for my setup and I have a budget of $3-5k just for the lights itself without modifiers/stands etc. I need some recommendations as I've had a look at the profoto website and I am really confused with all the different stuffs they have there.

Based on your requirements, go for the Profoto B2 600W.

    Thanks Sprewell.

another question, anyone know where I can buy the Profoto to Elinchrom adapter so I can mount elinchrom modifiers on the profoto heads locally beside shiriro? They are currently out of stock. Cheers

Actually , Elinchrom makes this , but CP may not want to bring in .
Anyway , most shafts are about the same size , so the Profoto ones should fit the Elinc speedring . . .

But a Question : why have " Elinchrom " splashed over your softbox when you using it on a " Profoto " ?
Heard that Shriro would let you trade in your softboxes for theirs starting next month .

You wouldn't be able to easily change out the Elinchrom speedring without modifications for the Rotalux softboxes as they are permanently attached with the shafts.
Elinchrom do have some interesting softboxes like the Deep Octa. I'm using it too over my Profoto lights.

    Thanks guys for the suggestion,

I went down to Shriro house today and bought the D1 500 air kit and acuteb2 600 air as well, a total of 3 lights setup. Lawerence wong was was helpful and I really like the customer service there..As for light Modifiers, I bought the white beauty dish with the Grid only and in the future I am looking to add the Grids that will fit the D1 heads, they cost about $150, pretty decent I reckon. I have no experience with profoto modifiers, I know it really depends on the job you are doing, but are there any that are really handy and worth buying?

    Cheers
