If not, we can recommend all sorts and so many brands!
i've been taught a trick (by a lecturer) to smoothen and glaze cut surfaces of acrylics with a lighter, specifically one with a steady blue flame. a mama shop lighter will only burn the surface black.

Check out IRODA lighters/burners. http://www.pro-iroda.com/
http://www.pro-iroda.com/PTSeries.htm (Professional series)
http://www.pro-iroda.com/MJSeries.htm (mini sries, like windproof lighters but better built)
There used to be a local dealer named tanbrother, but don't know if still the same. The bigger Homefix stores carry this brand.
Also, if you need a very small, 'pencil' type burner, Art Friend has one for about $10+. This one is good for fine, detailing work (working with small areas where you need more control) as it's easy to control because you hold the burner like a pencil. The flame is very thin in comparison to the Pro Iroda series. If it's a larger area you want to cover, the pencil burner will take you a long time to work.

Re: EXPOSE yourself - XXX
don't think i need something that tiny. something the size of a regular zippo-like lighter is fine. although the pencil one is useful in it's own way.

O Haiii guys...
Wonder if anyone is keen to get a 580EX II...
Someone will be bringing in from US... brand new with international warranty.
No need to pay in advance... can inspect and test the flash, then buy.
$610 if you get as I'm getting one too so it is slightly cheaper if I get 2 units or more (i.e. 1 for me and 1 for you). Need to know by tonite...
The best photographer is one who is inspired by the innate nature of his subjects.

Bear in mind the burn time.
For the cheaper, lighter type burners, you can't run them for long as they are made mainly of plastics (too hot will melt and probably explode!!!)
The Pro Irodas generally sell for about $35 - $80+ depending on what model you get. If you can track down the agent, it's cheaper as Homefix is bloody atas with stores only in major shopping centers.

Don't waste yr time (or marnie) getting dubious brands as they may not be safe for the kind of usage you need.
The lighter-like Irodas should be OK but they're still made mainly from plastic. They range from $14 - $20+
For your budget, I might consider getting TWO pencil torches.
Hmm ... there's a old hardware store near the Eastgear office/outlet near Lavender MRT there. They have one burner that can be hand-held, refillable and sells for $10 - $15.
