On another note, what secretion are you keeping?
I think most of us will try to hide and bluff our wife when purchase a new camera and/or lens. Whenever I bought a new lens, my wife always suspects this and that. My standard answer is always my friend loan to me or told her very cheap only, around $100 plus etc. For new lens, I will go to my regular shop and make payment in two modes, one is using credit card and charge around $100+ and remaining amount paid in cash. When the credit card bill reach my home, it always tally with what I told her. I use this tactic for many years and it always work. This is the secrete I wish to keep forever.

Lucily my wife don't read this forum..

I usually just say that I bought pre-loved from clubsnap or a friend, then knock off 50-75% from the actual price. So I bought my 10-24 Nikon for $500, and my x100 for $450
Stuff I'm reasonably proud of: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ctky1973/

Thanks for sharing, this is a good technique. My wife never see my credit card bills though.

I nvr tell my wife the exact amount for my camera gears. I kept remind her n my kid that anything happened to me, those gears in my dry cabinet are not that cheap as they thought and they should get a valuator for every sales. xlolx

Be careful not to let her use as a weapon on your head later.

Ben, when I pick up another lens or body, can I tell my wife that you sold me at 1/2 price?
What I really missed most, is my first SLR. An Olympus OM2 with the Zuiko 35mm f/1.4, back in 1982!

We just need a seller here on Clubsnap to sell lenses at regular price but provide 2 types of official receipts, Type A receipt showing 10% of the actual price or Type B receipts showing 50% of the actual price. The seller can also offer another service to sell at 25% of the regular price to wives that want to surprise their husbands if the husband pre-confirms the purchase.

My wife wouldn't buy me anything related to camera. Not even a lens cap.

One day your wife wants to buy you an anniversary present. She walks into Cathay Photo and ask the salesman "I want a 600mm L, so $100 right?"

Be prepared to face her when she comes back empty handed LOL!

My wife is against me buying more photography related stuffs. If one day she does that I'd be really worried.
