In fact, I used i all the way till i moved into Nikon Cool5000 back in year 2001.

Never failed me, Still in perfect working condition today.

Though i'm onto Nikon D70s and D200 subsequently,

Once a while, I'll bring out and used.

Todays camera are built upon technologies and featues,

Yesterdays camera were build upon craftman ship and material quality

Its something that you don't find in todays camera, except Leica

about 12 years ago somebody borrowed me 3000i, and he borrowed me for months, maybe more than a year . and that's how I fell in love with minolta.

had tried other brand eversince, but still got back to minolta. you could go to other bodies, but not the same soul, ha..ha..

purchased a Z5 as my first digicam over a year ago. still have it now

eventually 5d was my choice I bought last january as my 1st dslr, with just a kit lens, tamron 28-200, and minolta 28 f/2.8 on the bag. lens hunting time has been turned on ever since...

still, dynax/ maxxum/ alpha 7 slr is on my wish list

Bro, Let me enlighten you in the OEM business, you'll be surprise!

If you look carefully, you'll notice that Leica Digilux Digital Cameras are all OEM from Panasonic. Its only the branding label that changes. Of course, drivers, manuals and some software tweak to suit their own program.

Other than that, its a 100% panasonic. Search other website like DPReview or other manufactures website and you can read for yourself.

Build quality is nothing compare to any other branded high end compact.

See for yourself if you have the opportunity.

Leica is Very famous for their R series SLR. Etc. R9, R8, R5....
While people say Nikon is the Benz of 35mm, Leica is the Rolls Royce of 35mm Manual.
Don't mark my word, ask those whose in the Camera business. They will tell you why.

Its because of the recent years decrease in SLR demand, they went into financial crisis.

And desperately looking for some Low end digital camera to fill in their market share that they approach panasonic for joint development in compact camera.

This news is nothing new.

so while your having high respect for Leica, Don't be disappointed that Digilux range is only a
badge in disguise.
