Sanyo Eneloop....![]()
I am planning to buy rechargable battery. Sanyo eneloop tones (8pcs) is retailing at $49.90. MAHA 2400mAH IMEDION 4XAA x 2 going for $18 x 2 = $36. Difference of $13.90. about 38.6% premium for sanyo.
I had found conflicting reports on the internet.

These reports are based on old model of batteries.
I would like you to do a simple test. Take out your flash and fire at full power and count the no. of seconds before the red light comes on again. Please state your
Model name of battery flash model/guide number no. of seconds

sanyo reference :- http://www.eneloop.com.sg/products/battery.html
maha :- 2400mAH IMEDION, 2100mAH IMEDION, 2700mAh Powerex
Thanks.

thought of buying the sanyo eneloop 2hr quick charge.
shd i go for that??
Casualsnaper,
Both reports show the eneloop to be faster than imedion in the first few hundred burst, isn't it?
Too bad my flash minimum recycling time at M1/1 is 4 secs.
4 Eneloop (based on nikon manual) on 1 SB900 is 2.3 sec.
4 Eneloop on 1 SB28 = ?
4 secs is not usable. i have to use 2 SB28 at half power
Does Eneloop (premium price) make a difference over Imedion in my case (SB28) ?

The voltage retention in http://www.stefanv.com/electronics/l...discharge.html
and super voltage battery in http://strobist.blogspot.com/2010/01...=1263411830097 confirm that voltage is important in recycling time. Dave Black used eneloop and nikon SB900 manual indicated eneloop. Therefore, i placed my order for 8pcs rainbow tones with the ebay guy. He said delivery before 5pm today. By the way, OP increased price to $45 on the phone. Delivery at 6pm.

Maybe because the power output of the flash was different for the two test? One was done at 1/4 power, the other at? Voltage matters of course, but what makes the difference between most 1.2v batt is not the norminal voltage, but the voltage under load. Voltage of some lousy batteries can really drop under load.
I have been thinking of trying the 1.6v nizn, but have read quite a few horror story online, where the flash burn out, not because of thermal, but because of the high voltage even when recycling the flash, especially when fresh off the charger.
you are right about the power, because top end d900 can recycle at 2.3 sec, how can it pop 60 times per minute in http://www.calvinstudio.net/?p=472
i dont think my flash could pop 100 time at full power at fast pace.
camping here to wait for 1.5volt battery.

I have used MAHA 2500 in the past.
I have since replaced them with SONY 2700mh, SANYO 2700mh and GP 2700mh.
Generally all perform the same. Though i feel the Sony ones keep the charge longer.
sony 'cycle energy' battery (2000mah) is oem from sanyo
Sanyo eneloop batteries for me!!! Recycling time is fast and it last longer than other brands!![]()
