B+W filters: worth paying so much?
ive use mainly hoya filters, which cost around $20 for a 62mm UV, and just above $70-80 for a standard CPL (77mm)
however, a friend of mine uses B+W UV filters, which cost $80 instead for a 62mm UV MRC and $130 for a 77mm UV MRC
i understand that the coating and all does reduce reflections and cause less ghosting, but i havent experienced much problems with the 'cheap' hoya filters from the basic range, except maybe some vignetting from the CPL
is it worth paying that much more to get B+W filters? or r u merely paying for the brand?

Re: B+W filters: worth paying so much?
i started using hoya and switched to b+w recently. i was disappointed at how easily hoya filters get scratched after 1 cleaning session.

Same experience.
Comparing B+W to Marumi & Hoya, the filter is definitely better in built & almost scratch-proof.

Re: B+W filters: worth paying so much?
Considering that the higher cost is more than paid back by the ease of cleaning and longer durability (i.e. less prone to scratching). I once had a fingerprint smudge on a Hoya which took me a long time to clean, it can be frustrating.
I would say that B+W is worth it.

Re: B+W filters: worth paying so much?
B+W is much smoother and easier to clean and more resistance to scratch.

Re: B+W filters: worth paying so much?
when you've used B+W filters, you don't want to use any other filters...

Re: B+W filters: worth paying so much?
B+W definitely worth it. Ease of use and EASE of CLEANING makes up for the additional cost.

Re: B+W filters: worth paying so much?
I agree that B+W is really worth the money as its so much easier to clean and maintain as compared to the lower priced Hoya filters.

Yes, it is worth it but since you have no problem with hoya then stick to hoya. BTW, the best filter I have used is Heliopan.

Website is in German.

Re: B+W filters: worth paying so much?
Having used both Hoya and B+W filters, I would definitely go for B+W anytime. The better built and ease of cleaning is worth the extra cost. My Hoya filters always have a layer of dust/dirt that I just can't clean them away, while my B+W can be cleaned off very easily.
