The trick is you must only talk to Andrew, boss of the Holland V shop, not the kah kia. Only he can decide the price and availability. Everyone wants to speak to him so sometimes it is difficult to get him on the phone. When you go to the shop and the kah kia frontline staff serves you, ask to talk to Andrew if you're serious about buying.
The kah kia are not camera specialists and just flip through the price list. They sell everything from blenders and toasters to tvs. Sometimes they over quote the price but one time got confused and under quote a 9-18 lens and the CS bro was very happy.
You can ask Andrew for price and have the camera/lens sent over to Bedok or Transit branch the next day for your collection. Then when in Bedok, only talk to Kevin or Anita in Transit.
Never had any misunderstanding over price or availability over the years.
i talked via the phone, i dont live close to bedok. but whatever that is, the guy there named HAKIM talked to me over the phone and even arranged the lens to be picked up. I went there because HE CALLED ME AND ASKED ME PERSONALLY TO COME AND COLLECT. a lot of people seem to not understand that THERE IS A CONTRACT HERE. I dont want to sound like a smart*** but THERE IS. and when I got there, i was denied.
Sometimes i am shaking my head. the only reason why these people can still survive is because our camera prices in this country is still cheaper compared to europe and there are quite a lot of expats here. Seriously, there are so many sellers in singapore that will go BROKE if they do business in other countries like in thailand, malaysia or indonesia the way they do business now.

Re: BEWARE OF PARISILK!!!
Bro Camerax,
This is my first time giving opinion in CS.
About 7 years ago when I was about to shift into my new flat, I bgt a $1.5K fridge from them (Transit rd).
It was cheaper by few hundred dollars.
Few months later when I decided to get a TV, I went back to them as I believed their price was good.
Surprisingly, the same guy (one and only chinese guy in the shop) who sold me the fridge had completely forgets about my sale few months ago.
He was free that day, there was no customer in the shop as it was a hot sunny weekday.
When I asked him to recommend me different TV models, he completely ignored me.
He was doing nothing in the shop except standing there watching TV.
At that moment, I told myself this is the last time i would step into this shop, and I never ever step in again.
Immediately, I walked over to the shop beside them and bgt my TV there eventhough the price was not as good! The service was good.
PS: All the staff (or boss?) in the shop has a stuckup look. Don't know why....

What good will come from raising his voice? Since they don't want the business, just bring it somewhere else. Tell friends and family, post on forum will be more damaging to them

They sell also fridge, washing machines and other stuff... clubsnap members are prob just a small % of their customer base...lol.
As long as aunties and uncles continue to support them...they with prevail.
Location wise they got it covered...middle income suburbs like upper Thomson, Holland v, katong... lots of residents in that area who may be price sensitive and choose not to buy from best denki or courts at RRP.

So true... but you got to wonder... they must be doing something right to get support from people, I do not believe that just because they sell things cheaper, people will support them even when they give shitty service or was downright dishonest.
But after reading so much about them in this thread, I would really think twice to ever visit this shop.

Human nature is funny leh. All the bad comments about Parisilk, Alan Photo also got bad service but seems like majority of CS members are happy to check price in Peninsula then go out of CBD and back in again on the other side of town paying extra ERP to support Alan just because they're $10 cheaper.

Huh? What give you the idea that the majority of CS members are happy to check price in Peninsula, then go out of CBD and back in again? Majority of us would send out email or call different shops requesting for quotes, then go directly to the shop that gave the best price (at least that is me and the friends that I made in CS).

That why in a country like SG, alot of shops are giving lousy services... because they knew by the end of the day, prices matter to alot of customer, in Japan & US, customer buy from shops that provide the best services as this 2 countries have the same pricing, in SG, the cheapest shop will have the most "Loyal" customers
When i was at AP on Sunday, I was amazed how 1 person can bargain and hagger for a $4 hotshoe cover... I mean really?

But it's worth the time, effort, and travel expense to go to a shop and argue with the sales staff in order to buy a cheap near worthless piece of plastic. I rest my case.

agree on this... its amazing how people can be so cheapskate on their gears when they can spend thousands on the "best" lens or "best" camera and end of the day, when getting things like tripod and other stuff... they look for the cheapest...
if the differences is hundred of $ than its understandable... but the differences of a couple of dollar will really make the cheapskates to stand out from the rest

Eh I have a question. Why do people assume the shop people will remember your face if you only visit the shop once in a few months?

Re: BEWARE OF PARISILK!!!
The funny thing is that negative experience gets reported on the web very quickly. People seldom talk about positive experiences. Thats why I am writing this. I have been buying camera equipment from Parisilk (holland village branch) for the past 6 years (for myself & friends) & am quite happy and satisfied as a customer. There have been occasions when I have also received advice on what should be an acceptable price for a used lens (I went to the store to check out the lens and then told them I was actually looking for a used one). As someone said the shop appears to be doing very well so there must be something they are doing right! Of course you have a choice not to buy from them, but I definitely will as a satisfied customer.

Well... by just going all out to the shops just to get a hotshoe cover and hagger like mad is definitely not worth the trouble (in my opinion), however if I was there to get other stuff... say a new DSLR and the such... then I would ensure that I do the haggering to get a worthless piece of plastic either for low low price or free
And yes... I am a cheapskate.
