If you are successful in keying the warranty, CanonSingapore will know that the set comes from its own distributors, it doesn't matter where u buy from. The portion where u r to fill the store name is mainly for survey purposes. Taking stocks from each other is quite the norm and it doesn't really mean reseller sells higher. Dtores sometimes do not qualify as authorised dealers as they are unable to commit to the minimum volume demanded by the agent. Unauthorised stores should not imply anythg negative. The correct terms should be 'not agent appointed'. For eg if one is selling cans of coke n pepsi at a funfair, wud we think of that as unauthorised at all?

Since my first purchase from them, i would never patron their store. Why should we pay more to them for source the camera from whole mall, like buying a second hand set from them. And no comment on their after sales service, because you won't get anyone answer your call. Seriously have to beware of this 'famous and reputable' store.

Their prices for alot of equipments are lower than the other stores actually. And yes, as long as the set you bought is a local set, you should be able to redeem your free gifts regardless of where you bought it from.

Yeah, the quote I got for many stuff, like Canon 15-85, 70-200 IS Mk II and 7D was lower than TK, Alan, SLRR, Cathay. Maybe its cos I know the boss relatively well, but before I knew him (ie the first time I stepped into their shop last Sep), the quote I got at that time was 1080, compared to 1120 @ Alan, 1170 @ Cathay, 1120 @ MS, 1114 @ SLRR, 1130 @ TK and 1114 @ Parisilk. Yes, I did my homework pretty extensively

Yes, but even before I knew him, the prices they quoted me were lower than the other stores. So far haven't got a quote that's higher than the other stores. but that's maybe cos I don't enquire about alot of stuff.

That is kind of funny. Everything I have ever managed to get a quote from them is higher than most stores. That is if I even managed to get a quote from them...

I buy from whoever quotes the lowest and have acceptable customer service. J3:16 is never the lowest and I'm quite uncomfortable with their overly friendly service so I have not bought anything from them till date

I got my Hoya HMC UV 52 mm at 45 dollars from them. I think the price is higher compare others. My D3100 kit - 890 dollars but with 108 SC for this 'New' set.

They have been around for a decade or more and they must be something right to have survived for so long.

The only thing I ever bought from them is a dry cabinet

I didn't do my homework prior to that purchase but I always thought that the are one of the shops with better prices so I felt "safe". They told me its cash price, so I had to go down to get money from ATM

I was wrong when I saw the same dry cabinet at Carrefour with the same RRP/SRP. And I could get 5% cash rebate with my post credit card

My first visit to their shop was in search of e lens. Yes, their price was slightly higher and since failed tryin to get the lens i wanted from most of e camera stores selling, i decided to get one from them. Yes, i find their salesperson can be 'too friendly' and a bit too hmmm i dont knw i just dont feel comfortable coming back to their store. One very clear reason, the price is alwys that high that the rest. This is based on my opinion.

I thought the thread was about Not Authorised dealer, not about being amongst the lowest price? Anyway if one wants to compare, they are cheaper sometimes..eg .Canon 40mm was quoted as $265, Tk $268, Cathay $270, M S Color $299, Slrrev $265 all within 2 hours. I have not bot anything from John 3:16 before..more regular at Cathay and Harvey Norman. Of course, different people will receive different quotes for the same product.

I am not sure where this thread is getting to. I used to buy my stuff from them. Long ago, when Sam was just a school boy... They used to show me the delivery order or invoice from their suppliers when they quote me for anything I wanted, yes since the first day I stepped into the shop when they were at the ground floor I think.
Overly friendly... not too sure. Overpriced, at times. But I still remember how they managed to get me a new cam when mine blew(yup smoke coming out of the flash unit while taking a wedding). They even lent me a cam (not from the shop, a personal one).
I am more selective now, prices and so on. Seldom get from them... But I still believe in their honesty, at least Sam and his parents...

tested 5 X 55-250mm from J316 previously, all turned out soft and box cover got torn on edges. likely did my homework and didn't buy blindly from them despite of the high recommendation here.

Might be rejects from other shops and they are selling to naive customers
