Re: Canon 135mm 2.0L lens only for Full-Frame body? Pls advise.
Hi TS,
I am not sure which type of photography you are into. Anyway, i would say 135mm is a great bokeh lens it is long enough to create the bokeh and it can be wide open F2 during day time but it is non IS , as mention in previous reply from other cser, you might be having handshake if you are shoting for bird, butterfly, etc, this
might be affected your image. If for portrait, u need shout at her to change pose. I had experience 135mm in my full frame 5D mark II, it is inconvinience for me as i am having a hardtime to communicate with my model.
my recommendation for the lens you can buy for your 600D :
1st) EF - 70-200 F4 L - very good lens with good bokeh and sharp image and cheap in secondhand price ~S$700.
2nd)EF - 17-40 F4 L - very wide angle lens and with cheap in secondhand price ~S$700.
3rd) EF - 50 F1.8 - the reason why i am not recommend you to get 50 F1.4 is because, the motor ring on the 50 F1.4 easily die.
the quality between 50 F1.4 vs 50 F1.8 almost the same. 50F1.4 2nd price ~S$450 , 50 F1.8 new set price ~S$150
There are prime lens and zoom lens. The quality wise, prime lens will be better as it is creating more bokeh but for convinence, zoom lens is better as
you can shot in all environment with the lens you have. Diffrent type of photography determine diffrent type of lens u need to use.

Re: Canon 135mm 2.0L lens only for Full-Frame body? Pls advise.
persoanlly I prefer the tokina 11-16mm f2.8 to the 17-40L. I find the distortion on the 17-40L quite unsatisfactory and it can be soft at F4
I also sold my 50 f1.8 for the f1.4. I find the image quality is better on the f1.4
just my humble opinion

this one old model liao la - 2003. it needs an update/replacement.
the lenses that canon has put out since 2007/2008 have mostly been at least optically satisfactory.

C'mon guys, be fair to the salesman.
He's making good recommendations to our TS here who is very new and ignorant to the world of various photography lens.
For someone who wants a lens for the sake of 'L', without knowing FF/APS-C, without knowing tight, long, or wide. I would say the salesman is honest to not sell him a 135L and recommending the 18-200 for him to explore and know what he wants.
TS, there are many articles for reading in this forum. Don't waste the efforts of our members here who shared the lessons.
Cheers!

I not sure how you can compare the 11-16 with the 17-40L, when both are different lenses to begin with. Unless you are talking about mounting the 2 lenses on 2 different bodies.
Canon EOS 350D | EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

Re: Canon 135mm 2.0L lens only for Full-Frame body? Pls advise.
Hey guys, I have already sold my 600D. Probably I will still get a crop censor 7D body soon. I have done a few researches around and 135mm L is not suitable for my needs. Thanks to the white tiger and monkey picture. That have given me a rough idea the distance I have to stand away from a subject due to x 1.6 focal distance on a crop censor body. My objective is to shoot a general photo, sometimes portrait model, landscapes day and night and etc...probably a canon 20-70mm F2.8L suits my need for now.
