Who here doesn't like their Pancake?
So far with most lenses, there are equal haters vs likers..
But for this lens..it seems like there isn't one who hates it…
I think Canon should make more pancakes!

If I only had a dSLR body and a pancake lens, I won't bother with a bag. The setup is already as handy as it gets.

But if you really want a bag, there are the usual brands available at the usual stores.

Hello

Some member did mention one difference between the 40mm and 50mm was built quality and said it's quite important.

Can anyone enlighten me why the build quality is so important? I though the image quality/sharpness/colour etc were more important factors to consider?

Thanks!

One cost half the price of the other and is a model of few years ago. There is no credible basis to speak about built quality. I hv both.n both are great for me.

Canon has acknowledged the AF issue. Apparently it can be resolved via a firmware update. Due sometime this month.

My sentiments exactly - videographers use manual focusing. So I'm puzzled. I would have thought a real video enabled lens would have a focus pull aid and a super smooth focusing ring. I find f2.8 a bit slow as well. I remember the Olympus 40mm f.2 pancake for the OM system - now that was a nice lens.

Has anyone compared the IQ between the pancake and Voigtlander 40/2?

Melanmo: To post a photo simply strip out everything except what I've bolded and underlined below:

Unless the policy has changed, Clubsnap does not allow posting of photos until after 50 posts have been achieved. You are close to that.

I hope that you don't mind that I've corrected the code for your photo and posted it on your behalf...

Hope this helps... nice photo...

I was a little spectacle about this lens at first, but after buying it I am really liking this pancake! Maple syrup anyone?

Compared to this and the 50mm, its like heaven and earth. Really like it alot! This pancake lens is surprisingly heavier than my 18-55mm kit lens.

For those who are using LR v4.2, Adobe has released a RC or recently 'release candidate' version which now includes a lens profile correction for the 40mm STM!
