I think that there's no chance that it would be anything other than the 5D MkIII as the marquee product to be announced. There is so much anticipation that anything else would cause the Nation of Canon Users to revolt!

I also received the email from Canon Singapore, for an event on 2nd March 2012. I'm pretty sure this is for a new EOS camera instead of a printer.

Speculation: new EOS body announcement on 28th Feb 2012, Canon Singapore launch on 2nd March. No coincidence.

If the specs at CR are true about 5d3, I am so happy that Canon did not go the d800 path. I won't be getting one at least until next year anyways.

Nikon is able to made D800 at USD3k with important feature of D4, I believe Canon can as well. After all, Canon has bigger share in dslr segment so the economics of scale will give canon a better position to offer competitive price. But now it is too early to tell unless we know all the feature & performance of this new canon FF.

With the AF system of D1x and likely a better iso performance than the last generation of FF sensor. I wonder will it impact the resale market of 1Ds mkiii & 1D mkiv.

Yah... so far, only rumored new flash, new guide no, and new radio trigger....

I just hope that it will be more flash exposure will be more accurate..... but that will need to wait for it to be launched and then, users review.....

for those that wrote "waiting for price of 5d2 to drop". i think if you did not notice, price already dropped in B&S in the last 1 week plus. so no need to wait...

canon already did have this 5d replacement ready for launch before announcement of D800. or else they will not be able to pull the rabbit out of the pocket so soon.

if you did notice, the idea of 2 FF camera rumor (excluding 1dx) only did come about after the launch of D800

my theory:
this camera that is about to be announced by canon is not likely to match up with the D800 especially in the area of image quality. hence a 2nd FF will be in the pipeline perhaps later this year.

I think that many would agree with your theory house3377. In addition to the 22mp camera, there were many rumours of a 46mp camera.
