Guide to Digital Toning with Photoshop 7

Guide to Digital Toning with Photoshop 7

by Digipix

Here is my workflow of my various Digital Tonings done in my digital darkroom, Photoshop 7.0.

Tool used:

1. Photoshop 7.0

2. Wacom Intuos2 12x18 Graphic Tablet & Grip Pen

 Sepia Toning:

The Original Image:

Step 1:

Insert a New Layer, set layer to Color, pick a dark brownish gray from the Color Swatch and fill layer with the Fill Tool.

This is how the image looked after the color fill is done:

Step 2:

Next, add a second New Layer, set this layer to Soft Light, pick a dark brown from the Color Swatch and fill layer with the Fill Tool.

The image will look like this now:

Step 3:

Add a third New Layer, set to Soft Light, click and hold on this layer and move it down between Layer 1 and Background. Now, this step is tricky and will affect your final image. Click on the Brush Tool and paint over the area to darken details.

The image will look like this now:

Step 4:

Finally, Flatten all layers and do a Auto-Contrast. Perform a Unsharp Mask sharpening if needed. And the final image is done!
