Panasonic is pleased to announce a new 10x optical zoom DMC-SZ5 that integrates with Wi-Fi® connectivity (802.11 b/g/n) in a slim, stylish profile. The DMC-SZ5 is enhanced in its optical versatility and ease of use. Users can connect the camera directly to their smartphone anywhere by using it as a wireless router without a need of cabling or searching a Wi-Fi® hotspot. In addition, users can utilize smartphone for another monitor of camera that enables setting focus, zooming or releasing the shutter away from the spot where the camera is positioned. Both photo and video in their original size can be archived to the registered digital equipment such as PC automatically via the wireless router at home whenever the battery is charged, which means users do not have to eject and re-insert the SD Memory Card nor connect the camera with the USB connection cable to archive the data. Users can choose to save images on the personal folder of Panasonic's cloud service LUMIX CLUB and share them in major SNS (Social Networking Service) in one-stop action. It is also possible to play back the images in the camera on the Panasonic DLNA-compliant VIERA TV via Wi-Fi®*.

The DMC-SZ5 is not just a communication camera but it features outstanding performance packed in a slim, stylish body. The 25 mm ultra wide angle 10x optical zoom (equivalent to 25 mm to 250 mm on a 35mm camera) LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens excels not only in shooting dynamic landscapes with its wide angle of view but also in capturing subject up close with its powerful zooming. The 14.1-megapixel CCD and the Venus Engine processes high quality image both in photo and video recording. The 720p HD videos can be recorded in MP4 format which has a high compatibility with smartphone or other portable electronic devices.

The iA (Intelligent Auto) mode lets users leave everything to the camera to take beautiful photo and video with maximum ease. Miniature Effect, Panorama Shot and Auto Retouch are also available to expand the shooting fun.

Offering an outstanding friendliness with the smartphone, DMC-SZ5 suggests users a whole new way of using a digital camera, easy data archiving and smart sharing at a time, which has never achieved before.
